Caitlin Clark injury update: Latest news on Fever star's status for WNBA preseason image

The Indiana Fever may be without their biggest star as the WNBA preseason begins.

The team announced on Friday that Caitlin Clark is "questionable" for Saturday's game against the Washington Mystics with a left leg injury. The team could just be taking a precautionary measure to make sure Clark is fully healthy as the season ramps up.

The Fever have two preseason games this weekend, opening with the Mystics at home on Saturday before an exhibition against the Brazilian national team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, where Clark became a women's college basketball legend with Iowa, on Sunday.

Caitlin Clark injury update

The Fever announced Saturday that Clark will miss their preseason game against the Mystics with a left leg injury.

Indiana initially announced Friday that Clark was "questionable" for Saturday. The team did not provide any details on the severity of the injury or when the star guard began ailing. Prior to Friday's injury report, there were no signs Clark was in danger of missing any time.

Given that it's just the preseason, it's likely that the Fever are just operating out of an abundance of caution with their star player. At this point, there's no indication that Clark could miss Indiana's regular season opener.

Fever preseason schedule

The Fever have back-to-back games to begin the preseason against the Mystics and the Brazilian national team, the latter of which will be played at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Here's a look at Indiana's full preseason schedule.
