Canterbury forward Josh Curran faces a nervous wait for the findings of the Match Review Committee after being sin-binned for a shoulder charge.

The Bulldogs forward smashed Payne Haas in the face during the opening exchanges of his side's clash against Brisbane in Round 8.

However, he isn’t the only Dogs forward to face scrutiny after Sitili Tupouniua was also sent to the bin for a shoulder charge later in the first half that saw the ladder-leaders leak 34 unanswered points.

Broncos vs. Bulldogs: Josh Curran and Sitili Tupouniua in trouble for shoulder charges

Curran did not attempt to wrap his arm in the tackle and was promptly sent to the bin after the Bunker reviewed the contact.

"He makes direct contact with moderate force," referee Gerard Sutton explained to captain Stephen Crichton.

"You're on report and in the bin."

Curran’s indiscretion came off the back of a horror start for the Dogs which saw them concede two tries in the opening 10 minutes.

Cameron Ciraldo’s side was blown away by the Broncos and Curran's poor effort at a tackle will certainly land him in hot water.

"The contact came from the restart from the kick-off as Haas brought it back," Warren Smith said on Fox League

"He led with the shoulder and upper arm and collected him flush on the chin."

Things then went from bad to worse as the Dogs conceded two more four-pointers while Curran was off the field.

And when he returned he wasn't able to stem the flow of points either as Deine Mariner and Jesse Arthars added to the bloodbath.

Tupouniua then capped a horror first stanza by throwing himself at Brendan Piakura and collecting him high with just over five minutes remaining before half-time.

"It's the launching motion with the head down and no attempt to wrap," Mick Ennis said in commentary. "Sutton didn't like it straight away."

The interchange forward was sent to the bin for his illegal shot as the Broncos saw out the rest of the half to go into the sheds with an incredible 34-0 lead.

"They've got to lower their tackle height," Kevin Walters said on Fox League at the break.

"I know the conditions make it a little bit tricky for middle forwards but they've had two sin-bins on the back of these high tackles.

"They need to take more care and make sure their technique is right because both those tackles deserved to be sin-binned."

However, the Dogs didn't heed Walters' advice with Tupouniua put on report for a second time for a lifting of the knee, before Marcelo Montoya was sent to the bin for his side's repeated foul play in the following tackle.

Brisbane didn't avoid the carnage either as Mariner was also sent to the bin for a high shot in the closing stages as the Broncos eased to a 42-18 win.
