Winning La Liga and the UEFA Champions League only counts for so much at Real Madrid.

The problem is, right now, Real Madrid are not quite doing it.

But after Malick Thiaw's opener was cancelled out by a Vinicius Junior penalty, Madrid's recent frailties were to the fore. Aurelien Tchouameni coughed up possession, Christian Pulisic strode forward and Alvaro Morata converted for the seventh time against his former club after Rafael Leao's shot was saved.
Tchouameni felt the wrath of one of Europe's most demanding fanbases as he was booed. The France midfielder has been the focus of growing criticism over recent weeks.

But things weren't going much better for last season's midfield hero. Jude Bellingham was substituted after a non-descript 70 minutes before Tijjani Reijnders made it 3-1.
Ancelotti has contributed three Champions League crowns to Madrid's record haul over the course of two spells in charge. But he knows more than most that nights like tonight and the humiliation against Barcelona are not tolerated for long in these parts by Florentino Perez.
