Lionel Messi and Argentina ended their recent miserable history in the Copa America by lifting the trophy in Brazil in 2021.

It was the first major international honor of Messi's unparalleled career and served as a springboard for Argentina's incredible triumph at the 2022 World Cup.

The challenge now is for La Albiceleste to continue a golden era when the Copa America arrives in the United States in 2024.

In what is shaping up to be a farewell for head coach Lionel Scaloni, here's who Argentina will face and how they can plot a path to back-to-back continental triumphs.

Argentina Copa America 2024 group

As the reigning champions, Argentina were seeded for the draw and automatically dropped into Group A.

The defending World Cup title winners pulled a very soft draw, which should see them comfortably into the knockout stage if things go as planned.

Out of Pot 2 were drawn Peru. They then pulled a very weak Chile side out of Pot 3, and then the playoff winner, Canada, from Pot 4.

Argentina Copa America 2024 group stage fixtures, schedule

Argentina will raise the curtain on the 2024 Copa America in Atlanta with a match against Canada, after the CONCACAF nation emerged from the playoff match against Trinidad and Tobago in March.

They will they travel north to the New York metro area where they will meet Chile, before finishing the group stage in Miami against Peru, where they should have hefty home field advantage.

Argentina Copa America 2024 path to the final

If Argentina progress as group winners, they will face the runners-up from Group B, from which the winners will be paired with the Group B runners-up in the quarterfinals. 

Mexico are the seeded team in Group B, drawn alongside Ecuador, Venezuela, and Jamaica. Should Argentina win Group A, which they will be heavily expected to do so, they will face the runner-up from Group B, which will be one of the harder groups to call.
