The Jaguars went into their first "Monday Night Football" game in 12 years with control of their destiny in the AFC South. Owning an 8-3 record, Jacksonville even had a chance to claim the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC and the first-round bye that comes with it.
In the blink of an eye, those aspirations may have evaporated when star QB Trevor Lawrence suffered a bad ankle injury late in the fourth quarter.
The game was tied at 28 with just under six minutes to play and Jacksonville was knocking on the door of the red zone. Facing a crucial third down, Lawrence dropped back to pass but his left tackle, Walker Little, was pushed into the QB as he hit the ground awkwardly.
Lawrence tried to get up on his feet but fell right back down to the ground, slamming the grass with his fist before throwing his helmet out of frustration.

Jaguars QB depth chart
1. Trevor Lawrence
Lawrence has been the Jaguars' franchise QB from the moment he was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
He was expected to be an MVP candidate this season and even though he got out to a slower start than anticipated, he was finally starting to hit his groove when this ankle injury came about.
Lawrence entered Monday having thrown for 2,746 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions with a career-best 67.3 completion percentage, leading Jacksonville atop the AFC South with an 8-3 record before the loss.
2. C.J. Beathard
Beathard stepped in for Lawrence on "Monday Night Football" and put together a respectable performance in his absence. He went 9-for-10 with 63 yards in the overtime loss.
This is the 30-year-old's sixth NFL season after being selected by the 49ers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Iowa.
He has registered 12 starts in his career, all with San Francisco from 2017 to 2020. Beathard owns a 2-10 record as a starter and has accrued 3,551 yards, 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions over 29 appearances.
Prior to his cameo in Week 13, Beathard had only appeared in four games for the Jaguars, completing three of his four pass attempts for 14 yards with zero touchdowns or interceptions.
Practice squad: Nathan Rourke
Rourke has been on and off of the Jaguars' practice squad all season.
The 25-year-old has never taken a snap in the NFL, but the Canada native was a star in the Canadian Football League and at Ohio University in college.
Rourke threw for 7,457 yards, 60 touchdowns and 20 interceptions over three seasons at Ohio.
He won the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian award in 2022 after throwing for 3,349 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and rushing for seven touchdowns for the BC Lions last season.
