Cooper Kupp injury update: Rams star WR leaves game vs. Seahawks with ankle injury image

The Rams suffered a tough blow during Sunday's contest against the Seahawks.

Star wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered a right ankle injury while attempting to throw a block in the second quarter. He came up hobbling and received treatment in the medical tent before heading into the locker room.

Kupp was ruled questionable to return and came out with his team at halftime, attempting to warm up. He was seen on the sidelines with his helmet on but did not re-enter the game.

How serious is Kupp's injury and will he return to action? The Sporting News has you covered with the latest updates below.

What is Cooper Kupp's injury?

Kupp came up hobbling with a right ankle injury in the second quarter of the Rams' contest against the Seahawks on Sunday. The WR was attempting to throw a block on a jet sweep and got tangled up in a crowd of Seattle defensemen.

Kupp didn't return to play, but it wasn't for a lack of trying, as Rams coach Sean McVay explained after the game.

"He was going to try to come back and play," McVay said of Kupp. "He was moving around at the beginning of the second half and we were hoping that he'd be able to go, but it just didn't quite feel good enough."

The All-Pro missed the end of the 2022 season after suffering a high right ankle sprain that required surgery, raising a cause for concern that the injury is on the same leg.

Kupp had one reception for 11 yards at the time of his exit.

How long will Cooper Kupp be out?

Kupp was originally ruled questionable to return to Sunday's contest against the Seahawks, and he was seen trying to get loose on the sidelines with his helmet on. He was later downgraded to out for the remainder of the game.

Kupp has already missed significant time this season. He began the year on injured reserve with a hamstring strain, sidelining him until Week 5.

He hasn't looked like his regular self upon his return, tallying just 23 receptions for 364 yards and one touchdown over five games.
