The Professional Fighters League heads to Salt Lake City for another PFL regular season fight night. Lightweights and light heavyweights collide, with the main event being Clay Collard vs. Mads Burnell.
Collard (25-12, 1 NC) went 1-3 with the UFC and joined the PFL in 2021, going 7-4 with the promotion. “Cassius” has beaten the likes of Jeremy Stephens, Shane Burgos, and Patrick Freire. In the 2023 lightweight finals, Collard lost against Olivier Aubin-Mercier. The 31-year-old is also a boxer with a 9-6-3 record.
Burnell (18-6) is a former Cage Warriors featherweight champion who went 5-2 with Bellator. The Danish fighter and 2014 European Championships No-Gi Champion (Jiu-Jitsu) lost his PFL debut in April.
Burnell has zero points in the lightweight tournament, while Collard has five. The former is ready to cause an upset, but Collard’s goal remains the same: win the PFL tournament, which he almost accomplished last year.

“You know, it's pretty tricky on the feet, and he's got some pretty good wrestling as well,” Collard told Sports Illustrated. “So, I'm definitely going to have to think about a shot, you know, when we're in the middle of striking and things like that… I think Mads is very well-rounded. And so that is a tough thing to deal with. Because anywhere the fight goes, he's pretty good. You know, so yeah, I like fighting tough guys. And he seems like the tough guy, so I'm ready to get in there and just get to work and get the finish and move on."
Also on the card will be Impa Kasanganay, last year's PFL light heavyweight tournament winner, former Bellator champion Patricky Freire, 2022 PFL tournament winner Rob Wilkinson, and more.
