Cristiano Ronaldo made history in 2023/24 when he broke the record for most goals in a single Saudi Pro League season.

The Portugal great continues to prove his prowess in front of goal despite having now passed the age of 40, but the race to win the Golden Boot in 2024/25 was a little closer than last term.

Karim Benzema, his old teammate at Real Madrid, has been one of the leading forwards in the league after some early struggles in adjusting to life in the Kingdom. The likes of Abderrazak Hamdallah, a legend both in Saudi Arabia and his native Morocco, were also challenging to win the crown for a fourth time.

The Sporting News looks at the final Golden Boot standings.

Ronaldo set a new record of 35 goals in a single Saudi Pro League season as he claimed the Golden Boot in 2023/24.

His goal-scoring heroics did not deny Al Hilal a dominant title win, though. They finished 14 points clear at the top after going undefeated throughout the league season.

Saudi Pro League Golden Boot Winners

Below are the top scorers in each season of the Saudi Pro League, dating back to 2007/08, when the league was rebranded from the Saudi Premier League.

Former Saudi Arabia international Nasser Al-Shamrani was the dominant winner in the early period of the league, with five Golden Boot triumphs in seven seasons, from 2007 to 2014.

The bar was raised by Syrian star Omar Al Somah, as he won three successive Golden Boots from 2014 to 2017, before Hamdallah set a new league record of 34 goals in 2018/19.

Cristiano Ronaldo broke that record on the final day of the 2023/24 season as he scored 35 goals in 31 appearances. He defended that award in 2024/25, even though his goal tally was lower.
