The New York Jets appeared to commit to two years of Justin Fields as a starter with his $20 million per year contract this offseason.
But really, that's not a giant sum these days. Fields could be replaced if the Jets get a good alternative.
ESPN's Jordan Reid predicts them to find just that in the 2026 NFL Draft. He released a projected top-10 on Thursday.
He has the Jets landing the No. 4 overall pick.
In that slot, they select LaNorris Sellers, the South Carolina quarterback.
"If the Jets are picking this high, they probably didn't have a great 2025 season," Reid writes. "And that means they would be in the market for a quarterback, despite another year on Justin Fields' contract."

Sellers has immense physical abilities.
"Sellers' superb traits make him a contender for a meteoric rise up the board," Reid writes. "He's a true dual threat, having passed for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns with 7 interceptions in 2024 while rushing for another 674 yards and seven scores. Sellers will have to improve his pocket vision and ball security (six lost fumbles in seven games), but he has the physical tools that NFL teams covet. He reminds me a lot of Donovan McNabb coming out of Syracuse."

It's worth noting that Reid doesn't project Arch Manning to turn pro after this season at Texas.
Sellers will be one of the top QBs on the board regardless.
The Jets wouldn't have to start Sellers right away if they picked him, but at that point, Fields would just be keeping the seat warm.
