The Boston Celtics were able to win the NBA Finals last season, partly thanks to the new addition of guard Jrue Holiday from the Portland Trail Blazers. However, to get him, they had to give up their 6MOTY in Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon was interviewed last night about his feelings on being traded from the C’s, and his answer was too classy.
“Guys get traded every year…for players it is personal, you’re uprooting your family at the end of the day, you’re moving to a new city, you’re adjusting to a new situation, but honestly it was a good trade for [The Celtics]. We’ll both be good in the long run”.
In his last year with the C’s, Brogdon averaged 15 points, four assists, four rebounds and 44% from three. He also brought home the 6MOTY award, his second personal award since winning ROTY in 2017.
Brodgon was then traded to the Blazers, where he averaged one more point and two more assists per game.
After that, he was traded to the Wizards where he has been dealing with injury, where he’s only played three games. In those games, he’s averaged nine points, four rebounds and an assist per game.
Hopefully, Brodgon continues to get better this season, and can make it to a team that can use his abilities to try and win a championship.
Malcolm Brogdon said he doesn’t talk about the #Celtics trade anymore, calling it a good deal for Boston.
