Pat McAfee Show NFL Draft broadcast, explained

ESPN is using "The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular" as a third watch option for the NFL Draft, in addition to its main broadcasts on ABC and ESPN.

The "draft spectacular" will air only for the first round of the draft. It will be filmed live from Green Bay, like much of ESPN's coverage of the signature NFL event.

"Pat McAfee, a 2009 NFL draftee, and his crew, 2009 NFL Draftee Darius Butler, Connor Campbell, Tone Digs, 2006 NFL draftee AJ Hawk and Ty Schmit, will bring The Spectacular to Green Bay where they will be joined by notable personalities as each pick is analyzed and discussed in McAfee’s signature style. Additional guests will be announced in the coming days," ESPN wrote in a press release.

Originally, McAfee was not expected to air his show live from Green Bay after a problem with the NFL's "middle management" at the NFL Combine this year.

"I don't want to play no games, so I said we're not going to the draft," McAfee said after the NFL Combine.

"It wasn't due to insufficient respect from the combine, but there is a lack of it on a regular basis from one group of people just making life harder on everybody."

He also said a similar incident involving where his crew could set up happened at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, so he was planning on filming his show from his normal studio in Indianapolis. Apparently, plans changed, as he will now be headed to Green Bay.
