India vs Australia: Who has won the most Border-Gavaskar trophies in Test cricket rivalry?

Australia will renew their historic rivalry with India this month, with a mammoth five-game Test series set to decide the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The visitors, India who are the current holders of the trophy, have now won their two away series in 2018/19 and 2020/21 alongside two home series in 2017 and 2023, will look to retain the title for the fourth consecutive time.

After a storied past between the two cricket powerhouses, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was introduced in 1996 and has become one of the most important prizes in all of Test cricket.

The trophy is named after two of the greats of both countries. Allan Border, Australia's fierce batsman and skipper, and the great Sunil Gavaskar, one of India's greatest players.

India has won the most series between the two sides since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was introduced in 1996.

In 16 series since its inception, India has won ten series and Australia has won five, with the 2003/04 series finishing in a draw.
