Bills WR depth chart: How Amari Cooper, Keon Coleman injuries change Josh Allen's top targets image

As the Bills prepare to host the Chiefs this week, they will be doing so with a banged-up offense around quarterback Josh Allen. Two of Buffalo's four top receivers are dealing with wrist injuries, while tight end Dalton Kincaid has a knee injury.

Still, Buffalo has been able to weather the injuries, as the Bills are currently 8-2 and easily in first place in the AFC East. However, if they beat Kansas City, the team will be just one game back of the top seed in the conference and have the tiebreaker over the Chiefs if it comes to that.

Ahead of the big Chiefs-Bills matchup, The Sporting News examines Buffalo's wide receiver depth chart.

Bills wide receiver depth chart

RankName (status)
No. 1Amari Cooper (questionable)
No. 2Khalil Shakir
No. 3Keon Coleman (out)
No. 4Mack Hollins
No. 5Curtis Samuel
No. 6Jalen Virgil

1. Amari Cooper (Questionable)

The newest Bill is expected to be the team's top receiver option eventually, but a wrist injury has prevented that from happening. After totaling 24 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns for the Browns this year, Cooper has played in two games for the Bills, totaling five catches for 69 yards before getting injured against the Seahawks. However, Cooper has missed each of the past two weeks, but there is hope he can return on Sunday.

2. Khalil Shakir

Shakir has been Buffalo's best wide receiver this season, totaling 48 catches for 529 yards and two touchdowns in nine games. The slot receiver is averaging 23 yards per game more than last season, and he is 93 yards away from surpassing his career high in receiving yards from last year.

3. Keon Coleman (Out)

Coleman, the Bills rookie receiver out of Florida State, will not play against the Chiefs after suffering a wrist injury against the Dolphins. Currently sitting at 22 catches for 417 yards and three touchdowns, Coleman already missed last week's win against the Colts, but he is likely to be ready to return in Week 13, which follows the Kansas City game and the team's bye.

3. Mack Hollins

With Coleman and Amari Cooper out last week, Hollins led the team in receiving vs. Indianapolis with four catches for 86 yards. The veteran hasn't done much this year, producing 16 catches for 197 yards, but he does have three touchdowns on the season and has totaled nine catches for 116 yards over the past two weeks. With Buffalo's receiver group banged up, Hollins should get more opportunities moving forward.

No. 5 Curtis Samuel

Despite being a new addition to the team in the offseason, Samuel hasn't quite made an impact with just 16 catches for 127 yards. In fact, he has produced at least 22 yards in only three games this year, which is the same amount of games in which he produced no yards.

No. 6 Jalen Virgil

Virgil is primarily a special teams player who has taken just 18 offensive snaps this season, so he is really only an emergency option for the Bills.
