Three-time Dunk Contest winners: How Mac McClung joined Nate Robinson with 2025 award image

Mac McClung has gone three-for-three in Dunk Contests.

McClung, who's currently on a two-way deal with the Magic, went into his bag of tricks on a national stage for the third consecutive year, this time to defeat the Spurs' Stephon Castle, the Bulls' Matas Buzelis and the Bucks' Andre Jackson Jr. McClung joined some exclusive Dunk Contest company in the process.

Here's where McClung ranks all-time with another NBA All-Star Dunk Contest title.

Most Dunk Contest titles in NBA history

McClung is just the second player to ever win the event three times, joining Nate Robinson:

Dunk Contest TitlesPlayerYears
3Nate Robinson2006, 2009, 2010
3Mac McClung2023, 2024, 2025
2Dominique Wilkins1985, 1990
2Michael Jordan1987, 1988
2Harold Miner1993, 1995
2Jason Richardson2002, 2003
2Zach LaVine2015, 2016

However, there is an important distinction between McClung and Robinson's three titles: Robinson's three titles weren't in consecutive years.

With a win in 2025, McClung became the only player to ever three-peat in the competition. Robinson, Jordan, Richardson and LaVine all went back-to-back in the Dunk Contest, but none of those players won it in three consecutive years.

McClung's stardom may be limited by his status as a two-way/G League player, but he's undoubtedly cemented himself as one of the Dunk Contest's all-time performers.

In 2024, McClung returned to the event, looking to go back-to-back. That's exactly what he did, beating out Jaylen Brown, Jaime Jaquez and Jacob Toppin.
