The match came at an inopportune time, but Barcelona remained steadfast to secure an elementary three points as they clobber Osasuna 3-0 on Thursday.
Following the death of Barcelona’s team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia prior to the initially scheduled match earlier this month, the rearranged fixture was set for the tail end of the March international break. This perturbed Barcelona who had a number of players, including Ballon d’Or candidate Raphinha, absent as they only just returned from national team duty.
That didn’t ultimately matter as they had more than enough firepower from Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, and Robert Lewandowski to see out the match in style. Lamine Yamal had his tail up throughout the game as well, and Barcelona were only prevented from scoring more thanks to a strong performance overall from Osasuna defender Alejandro Catena who made a number of key blocks.
The win gives Barcelona a three-point lead atop the La Liga table, knowing they also hold a significant goal differential advantage on Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid as well.

Barcelona vs. Osasuna live updates, highlights for La Liga match
FULLTIME: Barcelona 3-0 Osasuna
A totally dominant performance by Barcelona, who didn't seem to miss their absent international stars at all! They go three points clear at the top of the table while proving they are still the team to beat in La Liga.
86th min: Chance, Barcelona! WHAT A PASS from Lamine Yamal, who cooks a defender before sending Pau Victor clean through on goal with a diagonal pass threaded through three unaware Osasuna players. Victor takes too long to settle and pick out a shot from six yards out, which allows Sergio Herrera to close down the gap and make a great save! That has to be a goal!
83rd min: With the result no longer in question, Hansi Flick will make a pair of changes as Pedri and Alex Balde are withdrawn, with the former's name changed as he exits. Pau Victor comes on for a late run-out.
77th min: GOAL! BARCELONA! Robert Lewandowski has only been on for 10 minutes, but he extends his lead at the top of the league's goal scoring list as he heads home a Fermin Lopez cross! It's too easy!
72nd min: This match has completely, utterly, fizzled out. It's so bad that at one point, Inigo Martinez just stands on the ball motionless in his own defensive third completely unchallenged for a good 30 seconds, which angers the crowd. Hardly anything has happened over the last 10 minutes.
In the middle of the doldrums, Robert Lewandowski comes on for Ferran Torres.
60th min: Two substitutions for Osasuna see Ante Budimir enter the match alongside Moi Gomez, with Raul Garcia and Aimar Oroz out.
51st min: Juan Cruz is booked for grappling with Lamine Yamal in midfield. The referee seems frustrated upon showing the booking, as if it's been coming.
48th min: Chance, Barcelona! Moments after coming on, Pablo Torre fires just wide from the top of the penalty area, he didn't miss by much more than a few inches!
2nd half kickoff: They're back under way in Catalonia, with both teams making a substitution. Pablo Torre comes on for Frenkie de Jong, while Flavien Boyomo enters for Osasuna to replace Jose Arnaiz.
HALFTIME: Barcelona 2-0 Osasuna
That first half was total domination by Barcelona, as Osasuna only created one chance that was ultimately both missed and flagged for offside. The rest of the half was controlled entirely by Barcelona, with Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo both scoring goals and Lamine Yamal looking good enough for one himself.
The only negative was the injury to Olmo, which looked to be troubling. He could be sidelined for some time.
45+1 min: In the first of five added minutes, Lamine Yamal fires another very dangerous shot just inches over the crossbar!
40th min: Eric Garcia is the first Barcelona player and third overall in the match to be booked in this first half after a lunging dive in midfield fails to connect with the ball.
38th min: Chance, Barcelona! Catena picks up a yellow card as he whacks Ferran Torres around the neck after being beat on yet another pinged ball over the top. It gives Barcelona a dangerous free-kick just outside the top of the penalty area from a central area.
It's Torres, with a bloody lip, to take the free-kick, and he rattles the crossbar! Sergio Herrera was beat, completely rooted to the spot!
31st min: Chance, Barcelona! Lamine Yamal goes bursting through the attacking third, and with nobody stepping to stop him until the very end, he lets fly a low spinning shot that curls just wide of the far post!
26th min: Oh no, the medical staff is out for Dani Olmo and he seems to know his day is done. This could be yet another muscle problem, which has plagued him since January.
He's coming straight off, and Barcelona will ready a substitute in Fermin Lopez.
18th min: PENALTY, BARCELONA! A long ball from deep by Pedri unlocks the Osasuna back line, and Sergio Herrera brings down Dani Olmo! It's an easy call for the referee who points to the spot, as Herrera was in the way after Olmo flicked the ball by. He's booked for the incident.
Olmo will take it himself, and....SAVED!! Olmo goes to the goalkeeper's right, and Herrera dives to meet the ball and palm it away!!
BUT WAIT!!! A VAR review calls for a retake after encroachment in the penalty area, and they'll do it again!!! So unfortunate for Osasuna! This time.....GOAL! BARCELONA! Dani Olmo goes the same way, but Herrera dives to his left this time, and Barcelona go 2-0 up!
DANI OLMO DRAWS THE PENALTY, HAS HIS FIRST ATTEMPT SAVED FROM THE SPOT, BUT CONVERTS THE SECOND TO MAKE IT 2-0 BARCELONA 👀

14th min: Chance, Barcelona! Ferran Torres nearly scores a quickfire second, looped in brilliantly by Dani Olmo, but as he lets it drop in a bucket one-on-one with a goalkeeper, he waits just a split-second too long to whip his leg at the ball, allowing Sergio Herrera to come off his line and smother the chance.
11th min: GOAL! BARCELONA! Ferran Torres scores to put Barcelona up early!
From the top of the penalty area, Frenkie de Jong filters the ball out wide left for Alejandro Balde, and he hits a one-touch cross to perfection right in front of goal where Torres slides to thump the ball home. It's an awkward finish, but it does the job!

WHAT AN ASSIST FROM BALDE 🔥 pic.twitter.com/aVmuAg65Jl
9th min: Chance, Osasuna! Barcelona have been the better side so far, but Osasuna nearly strike first as a ball down the left gets a two-on-two break, and Raul Garcia burns his man off the ball to get free at the far post. Unfortunately, the cross is behind him and the offside flag goes up to end the opportunity.
Kickoff: They're under way at Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium! A match that was originally scheduled for a number of weeks ago is now to be played at the tail end of an international break. How will it affect the La Liga title race?

30 mins to kickoff: The Barcelona women's team is hoping to channel the good vibes today, as they take on Wolfsburg at the Johan Cruyff Stadium in Champions League play. They clobbered the German giants 6-1 in the match and 10-2 on aggregate, and this Claudio Pina free-kick was the pick of the lot. What a delivery!

45 mins to kickoff: Ante Budimir has been left out of the starting lineup in just three previous La Liga games this season. Osasuna have scored one goal in those three games. They will have a LOT of heavy lifting to do today.
1 hour to kickoff: Lineups are in! Indeed, as expected, Robert Lewandowski begins on the bench with Ferran Torres starting. Gavi and Pedri both start in a loaded Barcelona midfield, while Lamine Yamal is the only true wide player on the field for the hosts.
Osasuna, meanwhile, has gone with a different setup than they teased before the rearranged fixture, when they had a 5-4-1 look. Now, they've gone for a more traditional 4-5-1 with a four-back defensive line. Interestingly, Ante Budimir does NOT start, with Raul Garcia given the nod.
1 hour 15 mins to kick: Barcelona will focus most of their defensive attention on Osasuna striker Ante Budimir, who is in electric form this season. In truth, he's really Osasuna's only attacking option, scoring 15 of the club's 33 league goals this season.
He just scored for Croatia against France in their first-leg victory over the international break as well, so he's managed to find the net against even some of the best teams in the world.

1 hour 30 mins to kick: Raphinha won't participate in today's game as he only just flew back from international duty. The Brazilian is a clear Ballon d'Or candidate, and some even have him as the favorite to win the award, but it was a rough week for him in CONMEBOL qualifying.
Raphinha took a lot of heat for his pre-match comments guaranteeing Brazil would beat Argentina, only for his side to get thrashed 4-1, and look poor doing it. The fans even trolled him at the end, chanting to head coach Dorival Jr, "bring Raphinha on."
1 hour 45 mins to kick: It will be interesting who Barcelona have available for this match given so many players only just played international matches days prior, some of whom are traveling back from overseas. It's almost certain that they will be without their Brazilian players, including Raphinha.
It's more unclear who of their European players will be available. The domestic-based ones, including Lamine Yamal, are probably good to participate, but the likes of Robert Lewandowski played three days ago for Poland.
2 hours before kickoff: We are back live ahead of kickoff of this rearranged match! Both clubs requested to play this game on a different date, with Barcelona citing exhaustion from players returning from international duty, and Osasuna not wishing to have their weekend game against Athletic moved.
In the end, La Liga said no to both and forced them to play this game against their wishes.
Match to take place on March 27
The RFEF confirmed on March 20 that the fixture will now take place on March 27, in the final days of the international window.
9:33 p.m. local / 3:33 p.m. ET: The Osasuna president has said that their club must "stand by Barcelona's side and support them to overcome this difficult time."

9:15 p.m. local / 3:15 p.m. ET: La Liga clubs have begun to issue their condolences for the passing of Barcelona's team doctor. Most notably, Barcelona's El Clasico rivals Real Madrid have issued a statement wishing the club its thoughts.
"Real Madrid CF, its president and its Board of Directors deeply regret the passing of FC Barcelona doctor, Carles Minarro Garcia. Real Madrid would like to express its condolences and affection to all his family, his teammates, FC Barcelona and all his loved ones."
9:10 p.m. local / 3:10 p.m. ET: None of this has been confirmed, but reports are beginning to filter out about Carles Minarro Garcia's death. According to reports by Spanish publications La Cadena SER and Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona team doctor had lunch with the team on matchday and decided to take a nap after. He reportedly passed away in his sleep.
Again, as a reminder, none of this information has been officially confirmed by the club or anyone affiliated with Barcelona.
8:45 p.m. local / 2:45 p.m. ET: Barcelona have confirmed that the match has indeed been POSTPONED to "a later date." The match will not take place today.
The club stated that the reason for the decision was the death of first team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia. The club did not include any further details.
— FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) March 8, 2025
ALERT: There are sudden reports that the match has been CALLED OFF due to the death of a person close to the club, potentially a member of the Barcelona medical staff. This is a developing story and no official information at this time, so we can only go off reports available, but it has been widely circulated.
This will be updated as we learn more.

45 mins to kickoff: Today may be an indication that Hansi Flick is beginning to respect Ronald Araujo at the back. For a while it appeared that Araujo was out of favor, back to full fitness after his first-half hamstring injury but stuck largely on the bench.
However, he started last weekend against Real Sociedad and picked up two goal contributions, and then played big minutes off the bench against Benfica midweek after Pau Cubarsi was sent off. With Cubarsi suspended for the return leg on Tuesday, Araujo has been rested today which seems like he will be the go-to option in the coming Champions League game.
1 hour to kickoff: Osasuna lineup is in as well, and they've made a few changes including a switch to a five-back defensive lineup to cope with the Barcelona attack. Defender Jorge Herrando is installed into the lineup, with a midfielder coming out.
1 hour 15 mins to kickoff: Lineups are in, and as we speculated might happen, Robert Lewandowski has been rotated out for this match, with Ferran Torres in the starting lineup. In fact, Lewandowski isn't in the squad all together, which is maybe a bit concerning, although reports claim it's just for rest and nothing more.
Gavi recovers from his midweek illness to start in midfield.
1 hour 30 mins to kickoff: Robert Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi, has nixed rumors of an exit this summer to Saudi Arabia. “He’s happy at the club. He has a contract there and he will respect it until the end of its deal," Zahavi said, while also confirming they've not received any formal offer from Saudi Arabia.
Lewandowski's contract is through the summer of 2026, with an option for an additional year.
1 hour 45 mins to kickoff: One interesting thing to watch today is whether Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick prioritizes the league or the Champions League. You will be able to tell how he views the two competitions by how much squad rotation there is today, especially with older players like Robert Lewandowski.
If they are in the lineup, he clearly views the league as important, while if there is some rotation, he is prioritizing European play with just the slim aggregate lead.
2 hours to kickoff: Barcelona have continually managed to kick the can of their financial problems down the road, but this summer may see the issues come home to roost. With the club hoping to renew Raphinha's contract in the near future after his Ballon d'Or-caliber season, there could be consequences.
According to Miguel Rico of Relevo in Spain, players who may have to be sold to fund such a renewal include Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, or even the likes of Gavi or Fermin Lopez. Rico says it could be a "painful" summer for the club as they are forced to swallow their pride to secure their financial future.

Barcelona vs. Osasuna lineups, team news
Barcelona will likely be without a number of key internationals. Hansi Flick has already ruled out Raphinha and Ronald Araujo, who were competing overseas in South American qualifying and played matches on Tuesday night.
Depending on their condition after returning from UEFA Nations League games, European internationals like Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal could also miss out. Flick said on Wednesday that Pau Cubarsi would be on the bench, with Inigo Martinez and Eric Garcia starting in defence.
Defender Andreas Christensen has suffered yet another injury, tweaking a muscle in his right leg during training earlier this month, but he could be back in training shortly. Otherwise, only long-term absentees Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal are unavailable for selection.
Barcelona starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Szczesny (GK) — Kounde, E. Garcia, I. Martinez, Balde — de Jong, Gavi — Lamine Yamal, Olmo, Pedri — F. Torres.
Barcelona subs: Pena (GK), Kochen (GK), Cubarsi, Araujo, Fort, Martin, Olmedo, P. Torre, Fati, Lewandowski.
Osasuna's lineup for the rearranged fixture featured a five-man back line, adding defender Jorge Herrando in and withdrawing attacking midfielder Enrique Barja. Vicente Moreno could have turned to this again, but instead went back to a four-man defensive line.
They have Aimar Oroz back after missing a few weeks with a hamstring injury, and he could be in line to start after the international break. Right-back warrior Jesus Areso is also available while managing a nagging knee injury.
Ante Budimir was left on the bench after heavy lifting for Croatia in the international break.
Osasuna starting lineup (4-5-1): Herrera (GK) — Areso, Herrando, Catena, Cruz — Arnaiz, Ibanez, Moncayola, Munoz, Oroz — Ra. Garcia.
Osasuna subs: Fernandez (GK), Valencia, U. Garcia, Barja, Ru. Garcia, Pena, M. Gomez, Budimir, Boyomo, Bretones, Osambela, J. Garcia.
