Patrick Mahomes' football IQ knows no bounds.
The Chiefs QB is undoubtedly one of the most talented hurlers to ever have laced up a pair of cleats. His arm is brimming with fervor, while his legs can conjure in even the most frantic of situations. But it's his mind — swirling with play concepts and coverage recognition — that proves most powerful, helping him break apart defenders with the flick of a wrist.
Mahomes rarely gets a chance to flash that footballing intelligence for the masses. But on Monday, that opportunity presented itself courtesy of an appearance on Manningcast during the Broncos' clash with the Bills.
Mahomes, ever the entertainer, offered his musings as the action happened, chopping it up with fellow Super Bowl winners Peyton and Eli Manning. The duo gave Mahomes a platform to spread his wisdom just as Denver breached Buffalo territory with a series of piercing plays. And when Eli queried him on just how the Broncos could penetrate the Bills back line, Mahomes answered confidently.

"They're going to run it twice then a hard play action on third-and-short that's going to get a touchdown," Mahomes said.
Shortly thereafter, Mahomes was vindicated. Denver called upon Javonte Williams to slip through the cracks on back-to-back plays. Then, Wilson pulled the ol' switcheroo, faking the handoff before finding Cortland Sutton in the corner of the end zone with a sumptuous touch pass.

Wilson and Sutton had to do plenty of work to ensure that Mahomes' prediction came true. According to Next Gen Stats, the pass-and-catch had a mere 3.2% completion probability, making it the most improbable completion since the statistical model was founded in 2018.

That makes sense. After all, Wilson had to evade a deluge of limbs to even get his pass off. As for Sutton, he was tasked with tight roping on the narrowest part of the field — the corner of the end zone.

Nevertheless, Mahomes was proven right. The football world made sure to take notice.
Patrick Mahomes correctly predicted three straight plays by the Broncos (run, run, play action-pass).

And we wonder why he’s 12-1 against Denver. pic.twitter.com/38Z7VWNFuO
Mahomes comes on and calls every play like it’s nothing. That was impressive. https://t.co/lfJxYa0ClN

That wasn't the only time Mahomes foretold a Broncos play call. Earlier in the game, the Magic Man speculated that Denver would send a QB spy to surveil Josh Allen.

It seems the video never lies. And there aren't many film critics more than Mahomes.
