Even before the potential merger is finalized, the worlds of LIV Golf and the PGA Tour collided Tuesday in Las Vegas.
While a major championship wasn't on the line, as it typically is when the best of the best from each league share the course, bragging rights — and a large cryptocurrency prize — were on the table for some of the most recognizable names in golf.

The PGA Tour's Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, with six major wins between them, took on LIV's Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, who brought a combined seven major wins to the table.
But the duo of Scheffler and McIlroy came out on top of "The Showdown," as LIV won just one hole all night across three different segments. The four stars faced off on a standard 18-hole course, but three six-hole stretches were be played under three different formats. By the end of the night, Team PGA Tour walked away with the cryptocurrency prize in Las Vegas.

(All times ET)
10:16 p.m. — Scheffler takes down Koepka on Hole 16, and that does it. Team PGA secures another half-point, reaching the required 2.5 points to win "The Showdown." Scheffler and McIlroy were virtually in control of the event from start to finish, but LIV did make things interesting at a few points. As the two golf worlds collided, it's the PGA Tour duo that came out on top.

9:30 p.m. — The two sides split Hole 14, as McIlroy beats DeChambeau but Koepka has no issues with his birdie putt to go back to all-square with Scheffler.

9:09 p.m. — Team LIV continues to face a deficit, as Hole 13 results in a par for both Scheffler and McIlroy, while Koepka and DeChambeau miss their par putts. The putter has doomed LIV at various points tonight as they head to Hole 14.

9:00 p.m. — The third and final format will be singles over six holes. DeChambeau is up against McIlroy, with Koepka facing Scheffler. DeChambeau's tee shot flies into the crowd on Hole 13.
8:49 p.m. — Rory McIlroy comes through on Hole 12 to give team PGA Tour another overall point. Both sides missed some short putts in the second segment, but McIlroy's par putt is what gives his side a commanding lead in "The Showdown." LIV made things closer in the second stage but couldn't come back.
8:34 p.m. — DeChambeau and Koepka are on the board. LIV wins its first hole of the night after Koepka connects on his birdie putt, and going into a decisive Hole 12 for the alternate shot format, they're all squared in Las Vegas.

7:55 p.m. — It's now fully dark in Las Vegas, and the second stage of "The Showdown" remains all square through Hole 8 after McIlroy missed the potential clinching putt. This stage is must-win for the LIV golfers.
7:46 p.m. — The two sides are all square after Hole 7, now playing under the lights.
7:31 p.m. — Making the jump to Hole 7, the format changes a bit. With each team having one ball, they'll alternate shots between their two golfers, adding another layer of strategy. Teams will also alternate who tees off each hole.
7:20 p.m. — PGA Tour claims the opening six-hole stage after just four frames, in large part thanks to an incredible eagle putt from Rory McIlroy on Hole 4. With the pressure on, DeChambeau missed a short putt after. PGA Tour now leads "The Showdown" 1-0, finishing the four-ball stage up three holes through four.

6:01 p.m. — This event will get started shortly in Vegas. The first six holes will be played as four-balls, with each golfer using their own ball. Only the teammate with the lower score counts.
