Two legends face off at Madison Square Garden when Jon Jones defends the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 309 against former champion Stipe Miocic on November 16.

Jones is a pound-for-pound great who dominated the light heavyweight division for years before moving to heavyweight. The 37-year-old New Yorker last appeared in the octagon in 2023, beating Ciryl Gane to win heavyweight gold.

Miocic last fought in 2021, losing the belt against Francis Ngannou. The owner of the most title defenses in division history hasn’t fought since. A fight against Jones was nixed last year after the champion got injured. The firefighter, 42, looks to return to the octagon with a bang. Will it be the last fight of his career?

MORE: Predictions for the entire UFC 309 fight card

The co-main event will see a rematch between Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira. They fought in 2021, with Oliveira beating Chandler to win the UFC lightweight title. Oliveira has gone 3-2 since, losing the belt and various shots at gold. The owner of multiple UFC records looks to return to contention with a win.

Chandler has gone 1-2 since the first fight, with his last outing taking place in 2022. His lack of activity resulted from waiting for prolonged periods to fight Conor McGregor, which still hasn’t come to fruition. The former Bellator champion has moved on, for now, and will now focus on winning UFC gold.

The Sporting News will provide results, analysis, and highlights from UFC 309.
