Is Breece Hall playing this week? Injury update, fantasy outlook for Jets' RB ahead of Week 15 vs. Jaguars image

Nothing has really gone according to plan for the Jets this year. In a season with the highest expectations in well over a decade, the Jets are 3-10, amid a four-game losing streak, and have already been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

The Jets' season has been on the rocks for a while, but to make matters even worse, their star running back, Breece Hall, is banged up. Hall has been dealing with a knee injury which kept him sidelined in last week's overtime loss to the Dolphins.

Even with the season already lost, the belief is that Hall will be back in action this season, perhaps as soon as this week. Let's check in on the latest updates surrounding Hall's injury status and Week 15 availability.

Will Breece Hall play this week? Injury update on Jets' RB

Following two missed practices to open the week, it seemed like Hall was a longshot to take the field on Sunday against the Jaguars. However, he was able to fully participate in practice on Friday and is now expected to play.

Head coach Jeff Ulbrich expressed optimism regarding Hall's availability during a press conference late this week, so it's not terribly shocking to see that he's expected to play. The question becomes, how many snaps will they let him play?

Hall was sidelined in Week 14, so we've already seen a glimpse of what this backfield looks like in his absence. If Hall is unable to play, expect to see a two-headed monster made up of two rookies, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis.

Last week, this backfield operated with a nearly perfect 50-50 split between Allen and Davis. Everything from snaps to touches was divided right down the middle. The coaching staff used them almost interchangeably, with both running routes and taking early-down rushing work. Expect to see more of the same if Hall is ruled out this week.

Breece Hall fantasy outlook Week 15

Coming into the season, there were expectations that Hall could be one of those game-breakers who could turn fantasy leagues upside down with monstrous numbers. He hasn't done quite that, but he has still been a quality fantasy asset, coming in as the RB13 in points per game this season.

With Hall expected to play this week, he should be viewed in a similar light: as a fringe RB1. Hall may be banged up, but there aren't many matchups juicier than the Jaguars. They have the 24th-ranked rushing defense overall and have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. If Hall plays and you're in the fantasy playoffs, you have to fire him up in this matchup.
