Alexander Isak has been at the heart of Newcastle's recent surge up the Premier League table, scoring in eight straight league fixtures until the run was cut short before he could challenge Ruud van Nistelrooy (11) and Jamie Vardy (12) on the all-time EPL record list.
The Swedish striker was already on the radar of many elite clubs around Europe, but his recent form combined with the attacking needs of certain teams have led to a lot of speculation.
He wouldn't come cheap, however — and Magpies boss Eddie Howe has already insisted the club have no reason to entertain offers.
Will he stay put? Or could a huge transfer be on the cards some time in 2025?
Here's what we know.
Alexander Isak contract status, reported transfer value
After signing for a club record fee of £63 million in 2022, Isak is under contract until 2028.
Newcastle would want a substantial return if the in-form attacker were to leave, and he's currently valued at around £150 million ($188m) which would be one of the biggest transfer fees in history.
However, Howe doesn't even want it to come to that.
“There’s no part of me or anyone at Newcastle that wants to let Alex go,” Howe said in December. “He’s very much part of our long-term plans. I know his desire to score goals is second to none.”

Will Isak leave Newcastle? Latest
It seems that, with the January window running out of time, Newcastle are very close to being certain of having their striker on board until the end of the campaign.
And, The Telegraph are reporting that the Magpies will then look to lock their star down for even longer.
The report (paywalled) indicates that the extension would not be an effort to command an even higher fee next season, echoing multiple reports from NUFC insiders that the player won't be for sale "at any price".
If that rings true in the long run remains to be seen, but for now it seems there'll be plenty more Isak goal goodness for jubilant Newcastle fans.
