Jos Buttler has had yet another memorable season with the Rajasthan Royals. However, the Englishman had his IPL 2024 journey cut short, due to England's upcoming bilateral series against Pakistan. The England Cricket Board (ECB) had permitted its World Cup-representing players to feature only until the group stages of IPL 2024.

Buttler left the RR camp ahead of their final group-stage game against Kolkata Knight Riders after displaying an amazing run of form in the tournament.

The BCCI did try to convince the ECB to let their players stay back whose teams qualified for the IPL playoffs, however, the English board did not oblige,

What did Jos Buttler say about the presence of International Cricket amidst an IPL season?

Jos Buttler, who is set to lead England at the upcoming T20I World Cup, has returned back to his homeland, to fulfil his national duties.

He expressed his opinions on International Cricket matches, barring ICC tournaments, and clashing with the Indian Premier League.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, the English skipper said,

I said, 'Look, as an England captain, my main priority is to be playing for England,' Buttler revealed his priorities, ahead of England vs Pakistan T20I series.

It's my personal opinion that there shouldn't be any international cricket that clashes with the IPL. I think that these games have been in the calendar for a long time. Of course, leading into a World Cup, your No. 1 priority is playing for England and performing for England. I feel like this is the best preparation.

What next for Jos Buttler and England?

England will host Pakistan in a four-match T20I bilateral series, leading to the World Cup. The inaugural game is scheduled for May 22, 2024. The 1st T20I will be staged at the Headingley, in Leeds.
