Rohit Sharma joined the Indian camp after the first Test win at Perth's Optus Stadium where KL Rahul opened the batting for India in his absence.

Following Rahul's good display against the new ball in both innings where he scored 26(74) and 77(176) where he also stitched a 200-run stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings, the management and captain decided to stick with their opening combination.

Subsequently, Rahul and Jaiswal opened in Adelaide's pink ball Test while Rohit dropped down to bat at number 6. The skipper batting at 6 did not seem like a good decision to Robin Singh, the former India player who represented them from 1989 to 2001.

Following the Stumps on Day 2, Robin Singh took it to X and stated that Rohit should be opening for India again as he has proven himself over the years while Rahul should drop down the order.

Sharma had a terrible outing batting in the middle-order in the 2nd Test as he failed to reach double-digit scores in either of the innings in Adelaide.
