The eight best women's players in the world this year contested the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia.
Top seed Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek were the favourites to reach the final, although it was Coco Gauff and Zheng Qinwen who played in the decider.
Despite losing the first set, it was 20-year-old Gauff who emerged victorious, winning 3-6 6-4 7-6.
It marked the American's first WTA Finals triumph and solidified her rank as the world No. 3.

Seven of the eight highest-ranked players were involved. The other place went to Barbora Krejcikova – the highest-ranked grand slam singles champion who finished between eighth and 20th on the Race to the WTA Finals leaderboard.

The eight singles players were split into two groups of four for the round-robin stage. Two players from each progressed to the semifinals.
