Why was Prithvi Shaw dropped from Mumbai's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad?
Just weeks after facing a similar fate in the Ranji Trophy squad, Prithvi took it to Instagram as he shared his List A numbers on his story, complaining about his exclusion.
Reports suggest that Shaw struggled with fitness during the SMAT. A senior MCA official, while speaking to PTI, revealed that the team often had to “hide” him on the field as his mobility was noticeably limited.
"In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it," the MCA official said.
Even his batting was reportedly impacted, with Shaw struggling to connect with deliveries effectively. Senior players within the team allegedly voiced concerns about his attitude and overall fitness,
"Even while batting, we could see he was troubled reaching to the ball. His fitness, discipline and attitude are poor and it is pretty simple, there cannot be different rules for different players. Even the seniors in the team have started complaining about his attitude now" he claimed.

"I think, personally, he is a God-gifted player. The amount of talent he possesses as an individual, no one has it. That's true. It's just that he needs to improve his work ethic. If he does that, you know, sky is the limit for him. Can you force him to? I can't force him." told Iyer to Cricbuzz.
On Shaw needing to introspect,
"We can't babysit anyone, right? Every professional who is playing at this level, they need to know what they should be doing. And he has also done it in the past. It's not that he hasn't. He has to focus. He has to sit back, put a thinking cap on and then figure out himself. He will get the answer. No one can force him to do anything," he concluded.
