The much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy is on the horizon and the war of words has begun from the experts and ex-cricketers from both sides.

Citing India's recent struggles, the former Australian fast bowling great Glenn McGrath has similarly called for his fellow Aussies to exploit India's slump.

Glenn McGrath wants Australia to test India in the BGT

Glenn McGrath talked about the pressure India are facing following the whitewash at home by New Zealand and wanted Australia to put pressure on India to check if the defending BGT winners have got it.

"[The hopes are high] Without a doubt, especially after coming off a 3-0 loss against New Zealand, you’ve got plenty of ammunition to back yourself up. So put the pressure on them and see if they’re up for it.," McGrath told CODE Sports.

'Go hard at him' - Glenn McGrath on Virat Kohli

While McGrath acknowledged that Virat Kohli will be India's biggest threat for the Aussies, he claimed that the star Indian batter is under pressure at the moment, having failed to score big in recent past.

"If they go hard at him, if he gets in the fight with emotions, there’s a bit of chat out there, who knows he might sort of lift. But I think he’s probably under pressure a little bit, and if he has a couple of low scores to start with, he could really feel it," said McGrath.

"I think he’s quite an emotional player. When he’s up, he’s up, and when he’s down, he sort of struggles a little bit," McGrath added.

Notably, India has been holding the Border Gavaskar trophy since 2017 and according to many, including McGrath, this is the best chance for the Aussies to reclaim it after two back-to-back series losses at home at the hands of India.
