Mahendra Singh Dhoni, or simply known as MS Dhoni had been the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for fifteen long years, before handing the captaincy duties to Ruturaj Gaikwad at the start of this season’s IPL. Dhoni won five titles with CSK, the joint-highest along with the Mumbai Indians (MI) and their former captain, Rohit Sharma.
The former Indian skipper had been hinting on his retirement from cricket for a long time, a moment fans haven’t really prepared for quite yet. Since relinquishing his leadership duties, the message seems to be much more obvious, resulting in fans gathering in huge numbers at every stadium just to watch Dhoni play.
The atmosphere in stadiums across India, especially at Chepauk has been ecstatic. The moment Dhoni pads up and walks towards the batting pitch, even if it's for just a few deliveries. The love and respect that the World Cup and multiple trophy winner with the Indian team has gained is immense.
When is Dhoni's final IPL game at Chepauk?
In the scenario wherein CSK fails to win their games and crash out of the qualifying race, the game against RR on May 12 could very well prove to be MS Dhoni’s final game at their home stadium in Chennai.
The fans would be desperately hoping that’s not the case and praying that CSK qualifies for the playoffs, so that they can watch their beloved former skipper once again as the playoffs along with the final of the tournament are set to be played at Chennai.

CSK’s chances of qualifying for playoffs
Chennai Super Kings are in a delicate situation with respect to the playoff qualification spot and although the men in yellow are currently fourth in the table, there are other teams in contention including likes of the Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
CSK’s loss to the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad has been a huge setback for the team, leaving them in the need to win both of their final games.
The five-time champions will now be against the in-form Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday afternoon at Chepauk, who are comfortably placed at the second position in the table, after which they travel to the Chinnaswamy to take on RCB in their final league game of the season.
