This will be their second consecutive game in this year's IPL. In the previous meeting between both sides, the Punjab Kings beat Chennai Super Kings, handing CSK only their second home defeat of the season. Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw played gritty knocks of 46 and 43 respectively, to chase down a tricky total of 163.

Both teams are currently placed outside the top four spots, and a loss for either team could prove to be decisive in terms of qualification for the knockout stages.
