There are several contenders for the top-order wicketkeeping slot, including KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, who have been India regulars over the past few years while Samson has not. However, the Kerala keeper has been in excellent form this year with 314 runs at an average of 63 and strike rate of 152. His runs tally is the best of any contender for this spot while his strike rate is second only to Ishan Kishan, who has over 100 fewer runs.
