Pakistan cricket is undergoing quite a few changes at the moment, with some drastic measures taken including that of dropping Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi from the Test team midway during their recently-concluded series against England.
The white ball teams have also seen some changes. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named their new white ball captain in Mohammad Rizwan on October 27, 2024. Ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, they hope to get their personnel combinations right, to prevent a third-straight fiasco at ICC events.
The most surprising move recently concerned Fakhar Zaman. The left-handed opening batsman was removed from PCB's central contracts after his recent tweet criticising the board's decision to drop Babar. It seems he will not be picked for Pakistan's upcoming white ball games.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled for February 2025, and Pakistan have a fair-few bilateral series lined-up (in the ODI format), that would act as preparatory tournaments.
