Despite the early wicket of Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler's unbeaten 97 runs, along with Sai Sudharsan and Sherfane Rutherford's impactful innings, guided the team past the finish line.
This is also the first instance in IPL history when GT has chased a target of over 200 runs in the league. Rahul Tewatia was in the action as he took a strike in the final over against Mitchell Starc, before hitting a six and a four in the first two balls, to close out the match.

Buttler is awarded the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 97 and excellent catches behind the wicket. When asked about being denied a century, the former England captain humbly replied, putting the team over his personal milestone.
"I think we had to win the game. You know, it would have been nice. I had my chances before that anyway. Two points is the most important thing. I said to Rahul, 'Don't worry about my score - it's time we got the win."
"And credit to him, he's done that over the last few years in lots of situations where he comes out and from ball one, can find the fence, and he's really cool under that pressure."

POTM: Jos Buttler
7:39 pm: TEWATIA HITS A SIX AND A FOUR! The Iceman has smashed Starc for a maximum over the deep wicket boundary and then a four to win it for the Titans. Tewatia 11*(3) It is also GT's first-ever 200+ chase!
7:36 pm: Mukesh Kumar concedes just five runs off the 19th over, including the wicket of Rutherford. The new man Tewatia, takes a single off the last ball, which means Buttler will be at the non-striker's end in the final over. GT needs 10 runs off 6 balls!
7:30 pm: GT score after 18 overs - 189/2 | Buttler 96*(53), Rutherford 40*(30) [Gujarat need 15 runs off 12 balls]
7:10 pm: GT score after 15 overs - 158/2 | Buttler 77*(42), Rutherford 31*(22) [Gujarat need 46 runs off 30 balls]
- 13th over; GT needs 94 runs off 48 balls, and then Rutherford smashes Mohit Sharma for back-to-back sixes, bringing the equation to 82 off 46 balls. The DC medium pacer looks to take the pace off, but it backfires against the West Indian.
- GT scores 18 runs in the 13th over and the match shifts in favour of the home side. The over saw not only Buttler bringing up his fifty but also a 50-partnership between the two batters.
- 15th over; Axar brings in Starc as the Capitals are desperate for a wicket. However, Buttler doesn't stop and hammers the Aussie left-arm pacer for five straight boundaries. 20 runs come off the over!
- 15.5ov Starc pitches one short, which Buttler pulls towards deep midwicket, but Vipram Nigam drops a tough catch - and to make it worse, the ball drags itself to the boundary.
6:40 pm: GT score after 10 overs - 94/2 | Buttler 42*(26), Rutherford 8*(8)
- Gujarat lose their second opener as Sudharsan (36 off 21 balls) is caught at deep midwicket with Kuldeep Yadav striking with a legbreak ball in his first over.
- Buttler continues to keep the momentum as DC spinners Kuldeep and Vipraj Nigam took to tighten the screws as slow down the run rate.
6:30 pm: GT score after 6 overs - 67/1 | Sai Sudharsan 34*(17), 25*(14)
- Shubman Gill was sent back to the dugout after a direct hit from Karun Nair. The GT skipper hit the ball straight to Nair at cover and attempted a run when there was none in it.
- Sudharshan & Buttler brought up a fifty partnership and continued accelerating despite an early setback with Gill's wicket.
5:30 pm: DC score after 20 overs - 203/8 | Best batter - Axar Patel 39(32), Best Bowler - Prasidh Krishna 4/41(4)

- NEW PURPLE CAP HOLDER Prasidh Krishna was on a hat-trick and also currently holds the purple cap! He removes two of DC's key batters - Axar and Vipram Nigam. The GT pacer also picked up a four-fer with those wickets and ended with 4/41 in his four overs.
- DC Impact Sub: They are forced to bring IN Donovan Ferreira as an impact sub plus finisher (for Abishek Porel).
- If DC hadn't lost so many wickets quickly, they would have ideally liked to save the impact sub for a bowler like Dushmanta Chameera.
- Ishant Sharma appeals against Ashutosh Sharma for being caught out, but the umpire doesn't raise his finger. GT do not have a review left to send it to the third umpire, which leaves the pacer frustrated.
- GT Impact Sub - Sherfane Rutherford comes IN for Ishant Sharma
- SURPRISING CALL! Sai Kishore did not get to bowl a single over until the 20th, where he conceded just 9 runs and picked up a wicket.
4:55 pm: DC score after 15 overs - 150/4 | Axar 33*(26), Ashutosh Sharma 2*(2)
- GT lose both reviews: Rashid appeals for a caught behind against Axar and takes a review, but the ball only brushed the batter's thighs as the review is wasted.
- Rashid Khan has another poor outing this season, ending with figures of 0/38 in his four overs at 9.50 economy today.
- Captain Axar continues to rack up the runs in front of the Gujarat crowd as DC aims for at least 200-220 runs in the first innings.
- Ishant Sharma has left the field and is being treated near the boundary. He has figures of 0/14 in his two overs so far.
- DC lose Stubbs (31 off 21 balls) after the strategic time-out break as Siraj dismisses the in-form Proteas batter, who looks to reverse scoop but is caught at short third.

4:30 pm: DC score after 10 overs - 105/3 | Axar 15*(14), Stubbs 8*(5)
- Prasidh Krishna struck for the second time, claiming Karun Nair's wicket. He dismissed both his fellow Karnataka stars after removing Rahul in the powerplay earlier.
- DC are going at a good run rate over 10rpo and will target 200 with the likes of Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma & Vipram Nigam in the middle order.
- GT loses review: Rashid Khan took a review in what appeared to be a close lbw call against Axar Patel. However, the on-field umpire is proven correct, and the DC captain survives.
4:10 pm: DC score after powerplay - 74/2 (Top batter in PP: KL Rahul 28(12), Top bowler in PP: Prasidh Krishna 1/16)
- The top three DC batters struck at over 200 in the powerplay with Porel (18 off 9) and Rahul (28 off 14) being dismissed in the first six overs.
- KL Rahul became the fastest Indian to complete 200 sixes in IPL history. He achieved the feat in his 129th inning.
- Mohammad Siraj conceded 16 runs in his first over - the highest ever in an opening over by a Gujarat Titans bowler. He conceded 17 runs in his next over.
- Karun Nair scored an unbeaten 19 runs off 9 balls in the powerplay and was joined by skipper Axar Patel after Prasidh Krishna dismissed the dangerous Rahul.
3:00 pm: GT's Shubman Gill has won the toss and has opted to bowl first.
- Jake Fraser-McGurk is OUT and Delhi are playing with two overseas, with a possible option to bring in another as an impact sub. CHECK PLAYING XIs
2:55 pm: (PITCH REPORT for GT vs DC) Today's match will be played on pitch number six. Three matches have previously been played at the venue this season, with an average score of 219, and the team batting first has won all the matches so far.
[According to Gill] There is a little more grass than normal, which holds some moisture, and it prevents the wicket from cracking up quickly.
Michael Clarke predicts a high-scoring game at Ahmedabad today, calling it a beautiful, belter of a surface. He doesn't expect the pitch to change much, and since there is no dew factor in a day game, there is possibly no major advantage in chasing.
