Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) haven’t had the best of the seasons in the IPL this year. The three-time finalists of the competition currently sit at the bottom of the table with just a single win in seven games so far.

Although, things haven’t been going according to the plan for Faf du Plessis and co, one of the positives to take from the season has been veteran batter and keeper Dinesh Karthik’s red hot form ahead of the T20 World Cup that is to be held in June.

Will Dinesh Karthik be selected for the T20 World Cup?

Karthik last represented India in the 2022 T20 World Cup that was held in Australia. Although Karthik didn't pile up the runs at the world event, his return to form in the IPL this season has reignited hopes of his comeback.

In RCB’s most recent clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), his blazing knock of 83 runs in just 35 deliveries took RCB close to SRH’s total of 287, before eventually falling short by 25 runs. Previously, Karthik also played a brilliant innings in the defeat against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI). His 53 off 23 balls helped RCB reach a total of 197 runs in their 20 overs.

What did Karthik say ahead of the game against KKR?

RCB are set to take on the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday afternoon at the Eden Gardens. Ahead of the game against the two-time champions, Karthik has made his intentions clear in front of the media stating that it would be a dream come true if he got a chance to wear the prestigious Indian jersey once again

“At this stage of my life, it would be the greatest feeling for me to represent India. I’m very, very keen to do so. There is nothing bigger in my life than representing India at the T20 world cup,” the RCB wicket-keeper said ahead of their game against KKR."

Playing and representing India at an ICC event would definitely be something to remember for Kathrik, but as things stand he's in competition with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant for the wicketkeeper spot.

Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson has also been brilliant with the bat for his team.

“I also feel there are three very, very stable and honest people who are at the helm to decide what would be the best for the Indian team for the world cup -- Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar," Karthik added.

"And I’m completely with them. I respect any decision that they take. But all I can say is that I’m 100 percent ready, and I will do everything I can to be on the flight to the World Cup."
