Mohammad Rizwan has been handed Pakistan captaincy in ODI and T20Is, following the stepping down of Babar Azam earlier. The 32-year-old will lead Pakistan into a new era of white ball cricket, with the most immediate challenge being the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

The newly-appointed Pakistan captain has revealed that he wants to be taken as equal, just like his teammates. He has dismissed any desire to be regarded as a 'King' or be given any special status.

It will be interesting to note that Babar, the previous captain, was called King by his fans.

Rizwan appeared alongside Pakistan Cricket Board chief, Mohsin Naqvi, in a press-conference after taking over the captaincy from Babar Azam. Here is what he said during the interaction.

What did Mohammad Rizwan say about being the Pakistan captain?

Rizwan spoke to the media in the press-conference after being elected as Pakistan's ODI and T20I captain on October 27. The wicket-keeper, as captain, called himself a servant of his teammates.

He denied the need to be given any special names by the fans and followers of Pakistan cricket. Rizwan, has rather urged the fans to treat all players equally (as captains) for the betterment of the team.

"For me all 15 players of Pakistan are captains. If I start considering myself a king as captain, then everything will fall apart. Rather, as a leader, I am here to serve the 15 men of the team. This is how it should be," Rizwan stated at the press conference on Sunday.
