On Wednesday, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders faced off in match 16 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Both sides were coming off good results, DC having defeated defending champions Chennai Super Kings at this ground just a few days ago and KKR opening their campaign with two wins from two matches, against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first on a good wicket, with Phil Salt and Sunil Narine opening the innings.

IPL 2024: What happened during DC vs KKR? Did Rishabh Pant miss multiple DRS chances?

KKR got off to a flyer, as Salt and Narine scored 32 off the first three overs. In the fourth over, Narine hit Ishant Sharma for 6, 6 and 4 before slashing at one and apparently missing the ball. There were questions among DC players over reviewing for a caught behind dismissal, but by the time keeper-captain Rishabh Pant signalled for a review, the DRS timer of 15 seconds had expired.

Television replays later showed that there had indeed been a nick on the way through to Pant. The mistake eventually proved costly, as Narine bludgeoned his way to a T20 career-best score of 85 from just 39 balls before he was dismissed by Mitchell Marsh.

Pant's subpar day behind the stumps continued later on. In the 15th over, Rasikh Salam beat the edge of Shreyas Iyer's bat, and immediately went up in appeal. The keeper once again indicated that he had not heard anything, and opted against the review.

Once again, replays showed that there had been a feather. This missed chance was less costly as Shreyas was eventually dismissed for 18, but Pant will be hoping to have a better day when DC come out to chase an already-massive total.
