Liverpool vs Brentford lineups, team news

Klopp has recalled at least some key stars with Joe Gomez back from illness to make the squad and Ibrahima Konate returning from suspension. However, Alisson's return was scuppered by a reported hamstring injury.

Mohamed Salah is set to feature in the squad for the first time since his injury-enforced Africa Cup of Nations return, with Conor Bradley also back following a bereavement, with Trent Alexander-Arnold ruled out.

Liverpool (4-3-3, right to left): Kelleher (GK) — Bradley, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson — Jones, Endo, Mac Allister — Nunez, Jota, Diaz

Liverpool subs (9): Adrian, Gomez, Salah, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, McConnell, Quansah

Thomas Frank's injury list has not changed ahead of this game. AFCON returnees Yoane Wissa and Frank Onyeka start this one on the bench.

Ivan Toney has been in superb form following his return from an eight-month ban, with three goals in his past four Premier League appearances.

Brentford (3-5-2 right to left): Flekken (GK) — Collins, Ajer, Mee — Roerslev, Jensen, Norgaard, Janelt, Reguilon — Toney, Maupay.

Brentford subs (9): Wissa, Jorgensen, Ghoddos, Onyeka, Strakosha, Lewis-Potter, Damsgaard, Baptiste, Yarmolyuk

Liverpool vs Brentford prediction

Toney's return has given Brentford a boost with two wins in four, and they look to be gaining positive momentum to avoid a relegation battle in the campaign run in.

However, visitors Liverpool know they cannot afford to drop points with City and Arsenal on their tails, but Klopp has never won a Premier League game away at Brentford.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-0 Brentford
