The 27-year-old recently led India 'A' in their two-match unofficial Test series ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Shubman Gill had suffered a finger injury during an intra-squad match simulation at Perth and KL Rahul was also hit on the elbow during the game which had led to speculations that they might miss the Perth Test.
And with Gaikwad playing well during the match simulation, there were rumours that India might draft him in for the tour.
However, the CSK captain, along with Sai Sudarsan, has boarded the plane back home from Australia.
The whole India 'A' squad has left the Australian shore, and are on their way back home after gaining some invaluable red-ball experience. The first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled for November 22 in Perth.
