In a recent video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Rizwan voiced his determination to inspire his players to overcome past failures in Australia and deliver a memorable series.

What did Mohammad Rizwan say about the Pakistan team?

Rizwan acknowledged the struggles Pakistan has faced in Australia, where they have historically found victories hard to come by. However, he believes that this series is an opportunity to break that trend and give the fans something to celebrate.

"There’s no doubt that we’ve faced difficulties in Australia because when you look at the past results, they show that we had some problems there. But I believe the team will go now and meet the nation’s expectations," said Rizwan at his first press conference as captain.

Pakistan will be fielding some of their best players for the Australia series. After being rested for the recent Test series against England, star players Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah will return to the lineup for this tour.

With Rizwan now leading as captain and Salman Ali Agha as vice-captain, the team looks prepared for the competition. Reflecting on the previous series in Australia, Rizwan highlighted learning from mistakes.

He recalled that Pakistan had come close to winning matches but often fell short at crucial moments. With these lessons in mind, Rizwan is determined to help his team make the right adjustments and capitalize on key moments.

“If you remember the last series we played in Australia, you’ll remember how we were in a winning position in most of the games, and we lost them after getting really close to the finish line. As we go ahead, we have noticed a few things that we would want to work on. We want to take a lot of positives from this, and inshallah, we’ll defeat Australia in Australia,” he added.

Rizwan's message to his team was clear: the players, both young and experienced, must unite in this challenge. Despite past results, he believes Pakistan has the strength and skill to win in Australia, urging his squad to “fight” and “stay united.”

“We have got this message that we have to fight, and the young and the senior players in the team have to unite in this fight," he concluded.

Beyond the upcoming series, Rizwan also shared his broader vision as captain. He spoke about his desire to build a strong foundation for Pakistan’s future in international cricket, including the goal of developing a capable backup captain.
