Despite a relatively good start to their campaign under new captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting, PBKS are placed sixth in the points table.

Moreover, they are coming into this game on the back of a defeat. Punjab failed to defend a target of 246 as they had no answers to Abhishek Sharma's whirlwind innings of 144 runs off 55 balls.

On the other hand, KKR will be confident after beating CSK at the Chepauk as Sunil Narine continues to take apart teams with both the bat and ball.

This will be an interesting clash for the Knight Riders when they face Iyer, whom they did not retain after leading them to the title in 2024.

PBKS vs KKR, IPL 2025: Live scorecard, match updates

End of match: PBKS win by 16 runs

The final stretch of KKR’s innings was a dramatic unraveling. From 77/7, hopes rested on Russell.

But even he couldn't rescue them. Arshdeep and Marco Jansen held their nerves -- closing out the innings with discipline.

KKR were eventually bowled out for a score even lower than PBKS’s modest total -- sealing one of the most shocking results in IPL history. From a chase that looked like a formality to a collapse for the ages -- PBKS pulled off a miracle.

End of 12 overs: KKR 77/7

KKR is collapsing dramatically. They were cruising at 60/2 but lost five wickets in just 20 runs.

Chahal triggered the collapse with a superb spell. He picked up four wickets including Rahane, Raghuvanshi, Rinku and Ramandeep.

Maxwell also chipped in with the crucial wicket of Venkatesh Iyer. The run rate dipped and pressure mounted.

End of powerplay: KKR 55/2

KKR had a shaky start -- they lost both Narine and de Kock within the first two overs. Narine was bowled for 5 by Jansen while de Kock was caught off Bartlett for just 2.

Raghuvanshi had a lucky escape early on but made the most of it. He played some confident shots along with Rahane to steady things.

The duo finished the powerplay on a strong note -- scoring 29 runs in the last two overs.

20:56 pm: PBKS are all out for 111 in 15.3 overs. No batter seemed to have the intent to take the innings forward. Prabhsimran Singh is the pick of the batters for Punjab for his 30 off 15 deliveries.

Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy are the star performers for Kolkata, as they picked up three and two wickets respectively. Overall, the KKR bowlers didn't allow the PBKS batters to settle in. KKR need to chase 112 to register their fourth win of the tournament.

End of 15 overs - PBKS 109/8

Things have gone from bad to worse as Punjab have lost 8 wickets in just 15 overs as they look to finish their quota of 20 overs. KKR have been brutal in their bowling, Harshi Rana being the pick of the bowlers with three important wickets, two being of the dangerous Priyansh Arya and their former skipper Shreyas Iyer.

End of 10 overs - PBKS 80/6

Things are not looking good for PBKS as they are 6 down with just 80 runs on board and it's only half-way though the first innings. KKR are on a roll with their bowling. Punjab would look to accumulate as many runs as possible with 4 wickets remaining.

End of 5 overs - PBKS 42/3

Punjab have lost their top three as Jos Inglis 2(6) gets clean bowled by Varun Chakravarthy. Nehal Wadhera, the man in the middle, along with Prabhsimran Singh will look to build up a partnership to stabilize the innings.

Kolkata would like to keep the pressure up with another quick wicket.

7:49 pm: Another big WICKET! Skipper Shreyas Iyer returns for a golden duck as Harshit Rana strikes again. Ramandeep Singh takes another good catch in the deep. Rana is now on a hattrick! Trouble for Punjab. PBKS 39/2 IN 3.4 overs.

7:46 pm: WICKET! Priyansh Arya has to go back to the dressing room after a quickfire 22 off 11. Harshit Rana provides the first breakthrough for Kolkata. PBKS 39/1 after 3.2 overs.

7:30 pm: It's almost game time! Priyansh Arya takes strike for Punjab. Vaibhav Arora to start the proceedings for Kolkata.

7:05 pm: Jos Inglis and Xavier Bartlett come in for Marcus Stoinis and Lockie Ferguson for PBKS. Anrich Nortje replaces Moeen Ali for KKR.

7:00 pm: It's toss time in Mullanpur! PBKS win the toss and choose to bat first.

6:40 pm: The toss is scheduled at 7pm IST.
