The sixth round of the Ranji Trophy 2024/25 which began on Thursday, January 23, saw the return of a lot of Indian Test players who finished the Australia tour and were not on national duty for the England series.

The players returning from the Border Gavaskar Trophy include the skipper, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Devdutt Padikkal among others took the field for their state associations.

How did the Indian Test players perform in the Ranji Trophy round 6?
Mumbai vs Jammu & Kashmir:
The Mumbai team is star-studded with Indian internationals. Both India openers, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to impact the match at a large extent. Here's how India Test players performed:

- Yashasvi Jaiswal- 4(8) & 26(51).
- Ajinkya Rahane- 12(17); 16(36).
- Shreyas Iyer- 11(7); 17(16).
- Shardul Thakur- 51(57); 2/39 & 119(135); 0/45.
Shardul, who didn’t tour Australia with the Indian team, stepped up in an important moment to save Mumbai from a potentially embarrassing situation. However, despite his efforts, Mumbai couldn't secure the win and lost the match.
Karnataka vs Punjab:
Batting first, Punjab was led by Shubman Gill, who opened the innings and scored 4 runs in the first innings, followed by a brilliant century in the second. Karnataka batters Mayank Agarwal and Devdutt Paddikal didn't perform much with the bat, however Karnataka triumphed in the match, winning by an innings and 207 runs.

Saurashtra vs Delhi:
Rishabh Pant took the field and scored just 1(10) for Delhi in the first inning. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja took a 5-wicket haul, Cheteshwar Pujara and Jaydev Unadkat played for Saurashtra among the Test players.
Rishabh Pant failed in the second inning too and could only score 17 runs. Ravindra Jadeja shone with another five wicket haul in the second inning.
Saurashtra won the match by 10 wickets.

Rajat Patidar who made his debut in the England series in 2024 featured for MP and did not trouble the scorers. He scored a crucial half-century for his team, but fell just short of a century, getting out in the nervous 90s.

Andhra Pradesh vs Pondicherry:
Hanuma Vihari captained Andhra with KS Bharat being another Test player in the AP side as they batted first against Pondicherry.

Jharkhand vs Chattisgarh:
Ishan Kishan took the field as the Jharkhand skipper and took a catch as Chattisgarh were bowled out for 230 on the first day of the match. With the bat, he could only score 23 off 22 balls and got out on the last ball of the second day of the match.
On third day, Jharkhand was restricted to 376 runs. On the oether hand Chattisgarh is currently at 205/4 with a lead of 59 runs.
