Trent Boult added another milestone to his name during Mumbai Indians’ match against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Friday. He became just the third New Zealand bowler to take 300 wickets in T20 cricket.

The veteran pacer reached the mark in his 257th T20 match. The 35-year-old had a mixed outing with the ball -- expensive at times but lethal when it mattered.

Boult finished with figures of 3/28 from just 2.1 overs. He helped MI in securing a crushing 100-run win over a struggling Rajasthan side.

He took wickets of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Rana and Jofra Archer. Boult was hit for a couple of sixes early on by Jaiswal but he bounced back.

Boult now has 302 wickets in T20s at an average of 25.10 and an economy rate of 8.05. He joins Tim Southee and Ish Sodhi as the only New Zealand bowlers to reach the 300-wicket mark in the format.

With 11 wickets in his last five games -- Boult has stormed into third place in the Purple Cap race -- with 16 wickets this season.

In the match, Mumbai Indians scored 217/2 after a 116-run opening stand from Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma. This was followed by a 94-run partnership between Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.

Rajasthan Royals struggled, being bowled out just for 117 runs as Karn Sharma and Boult led the bowling. MI now sit comfortably at the top of the points table with 14 points while RR's playoff hopes are officially over.
