What did Pat Cummins say about the Ahmedabad crowd?

Cummins, who has a bit of a history with Ahmedabad in the past, had only good things to say this time. After the match, he described the venue as 'amazing' and said the supporters were both 'nice and loud.'

“It is an amazing venue to play. They are so nice and loud," Pat Cummins said.

It was a moment of appreciation from an away skipper after a loss, which shows the kind of atmosphere that the Narendra Modi Stadium continues to generate during the games.

However, India's loss to Australia in the 2023 World Cup Final at the venue still lingers in the minds of many fans.

As Australia's captain, Cummins had vowed to silence the sea of India fans in Ahmedabad that day, on November 19, 2023, and that is what he did as the India fell short on home soil despite bring favourites to win the trophy.

How did SRH fall short in the match?

Gujarat Titans put on a powerful show with the bat first. Their captain Shubman Gill set the tone with a quickfire 76, and Jos Buttler added more firepower with 64 off 37 balls.

Sunrisers had their moments in the chase. Abhishek Sharma gave them a bright start with 74 runs. But after that, things went downhill. Mistakes in the field, wayward bowling, and loss of key wickets at the wrong time made the target of over 220 too steep to climb.

What went wrong for SRH vs GT at Ahmedabad?

Speaking about the defeat, Cummins didn't make excuses. He pointed out that SRH gave away too many runs during the first innings.

"They are class batters. They don’t do anything outlandish. If you bowl bad balls, they just put it away. We probably dished out too many bad balls. It is a really good wicket," said Cummins

He also accepted that their powerplay with the bat wasn’t great. Cummins himself took part of the blame and admitted he could’ve bowled tighter and held on to catches when needed.

"I was as guilty as anyone else. Probably let them get 20-30 extra runs. Maybe hang on to one or two catches. Again am guilty there. Chasing 200 looked a bit more realistic," he said.

How does this loss affect SRH's playoff hopes?

The defeat was a major setback for SRH. With just three wins in ten matches, Sunrisers now find themselves in a tight corner when it comes to playoff chances.
