Sharma has captained Mumbai in the past until 2024, when Hardik Pandya made a surprise return from Gujarat Titans (GT). MI have won five IPL trophies under Sharma, a testament to his impeccable leadership.
For India, too, he now has two ICC trophies under his belt, sealing his legacy as one of the most successful captains of the nation.
Meanwhile, Sharma talked about the difficulty of captaining a side in the shorter format.

What did Rohit Sharma say on captaincy?
Rohit Sharma was interviewed by former Australian skipper and legend Michael Clarke on a podcast by Beyond23 Cricket. The World Cup-winning captain asked him about the experience of captaining in three different formats, choosing T20 to be the hardest himself.

Speaking to Clarke on the podcast, Sharma said: "I completely agree. It's very hard to be a captain in T20s, only because of the pace of the game. It goes very fast. There's no time to recover. You have one bad over and then suddenly the momentum is with the opposition. There's no coming back from that."
Sharma went on to recall an incident from the IPL where he made a wrong call as a captain and went on to regret it later.
"I have noticed this many a time, while captaining India and also in IPL. When I was captaining Mumbai, I made a mistake of giving somebody the over that I shouldn't have given, and then you go back and think why I did that."
Clarke responded with a hearty laugh at Sharma's story and went on to agree on the same feeling as well.
