In 2023, current Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill scored 890 runs in what was a breathtaking individual campaign from the young Indian batsman. Although GT couldn't win IPL, losing the final to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gill won the Orange Cap.

Who will win the Orange IPL 2024? Predictions and chances
Hot favourites
Virat Kohli: Kohli has already won the Orange Cap once, in 2016, scoring 973 runs in what was a record-breaking campaign. This year, at the halfway mark, he's leading the Orange Cap charts with 361 runs in seven innings.
Riyan Parag: The 22-year-old is having his 'breakthrough season' in IPL 2024, becoming a middle-order mainstay for Rajasthan Royals. With over 300 runs, he is the only other hot favourite to win the Orange Cap. Plus, given that RR are more or less likely to qualify for the playoffs, that would give Riyan a few more games.
Favourites
Sanju Samson: The Kerala-born wicketkeeper-batsman has never won an Orange Cap, but he has started the IPL 2024 season well, scoring 276 runs in seven innings.
Shubman Gill: With over 250 runs already under his belt, Gill has looked one of the better GT batsmen this season, amidst their worst start ever to an IPL campaign. If he gets into his groove, runs are bound to be scored in heaps.
Travis Head: Head has played only five games, but he has already accumulated 235 runs at a strike rate of almost 200. He scored a terrific ton against RCB on April 15. If he carries on with this form, he could well be one of the favourites to win the Orange Cap.
Contenders
Rohit Sharma: Rohit, too, has never won an Orange Cap, but he is on course to end the season with more runs than he has scored in the last five years. He has scored 261 runs in six innings and is projected to cross 600 runs at this rate, but he could well make a big push for the Orange Cap if he converts his starts into big scores.
Heinrich Klaasen: The Sunrisers wicketkeeper has been unstoppable this season, scoring 253 runs even though he has faced just 127 balls. Given that he doesn't as many balls on an average, he isn't among the favourites to win the Orange Cap. But you never know.
Ruturaj Gaikwad: The CSK skipper has scored 224 runs in six innings, a decent start so far. However, if he manages to string a few big scores, he could well enter the race to win the Orange Cap.
Outside chance
Sunil Narine: Narine scored his first-ever T20 century on April 16, against Rajasthan Royals. He has made batting seem so effortless at the top of the innings, already reaching 276 runs to see himself enter the top five run-getters of IPL 2024.
Shivam Dube: Dube is having yet another tremendous season with the Chennai Super Kings. He is projected to cross 550 runs, but he could be among the top run scorers if he can score big with consistency.
