Celebrations prevail in Merseyside as Liverpool have won their 20th league title on Sunday. The Reds sealed the victory with a massive 5-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

Liverpool broke Manchester City's continued dominance in the Premier League for the last four seasons and lifted the trophy with four league matches remaining for the ongoing campaigning.

Liverpool started off strong this season and have been maintaining their stride in the Premier League, suffering only two defeats in 34 matches.

Following the win, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was asked by Sky Sports how long he had known the Reds would win the title. To which the Dutch replied (comments via The London Standard) candidly that he had anticipated the result for a while given his squad's form in the league this season.

"A long time, to be honest. For almost the whole season we were on top of the league, and we had the team that was able to win it, but also you know how tough the Premier League is. You cannot take anything for granted but the belief for us to win it was almost throughout the whole season."

Slot also spoke about how Man City 'helped' in bringing the victory to Anfield.

What did Arne Slot say about Man City?

Despite starting the season well, Man City struggled, especially in the second half of the campaign. They were hit with several injuries, which kept key players out of the pitch.

City were eliminated from the Champions League in February, and their aim ever since has been to finish in the top five in the Premier League table to ensure qualification for the next season.

Now after bagging the league title, Slot mentioned that Man City's slip-ups smoothened Liverpool's path to victory.

"It helped that Man City had a difficult spell, which they hadn't had in five years. That helped us a bit as well."

Man City currently stand fourth in the Premier League table with 61 points, keeping the hopes of a Champions League qualification alive. They also have a chance of bringing home silverware as they booked a spot in the FA Cup final after beating Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
