When Lee Corso officially retires from 'College Gameday' he will be remembered for many iconic moments. At the top of that list is his tradition of wearing the mascot headgear of the team he picks for the big game.
Rece Davis, the show's host, was asked by CNN if headgear picks will still happen when Corso moves on. His response was swift and decisive.
Rece Davis on the future of the headgear pick: "I think I'm going to have to tackle anybody that tries to do a headgear pick ... that to me is his signature moment and it should stay with him." https://t.co/Khp2KYPf0x pic.twitter.com/YFza0Hh3FM

"I will fight very hard to not be overruled or told no on that," Davis continued. "Many people tell me it's something they look forward to every week and that is his and his alone."
According to ESPN, Corso has 430 headgear picks all time. He is 286-144 in those predictions, including a perfect 11-0 season in 1999. He has picked 69 different teams and his number one team chosen is Ohio State with 45 selections for the Buckeyes.

'College Gameday' produces a lot of great moments, but none are more anticipated than Corso donning the face of one team's mascot. Perhaps the only thing that could bring more viewers is if Davis follows through on his promise to tackle somebody who attempts to replicate it.
Corso, who turns 90 in August, will make his final headgear pick on August 30th for week one of the college football season.
