Grizzlies vs. Mavs best bets and final score prediction
This could be a humdinger of a Play-In game, and it's hard not to like the OVER in this one. Memphis has averaged 121.2 points per game over its past five games, while Dallas has scored 120 or more in two of its past three. So, if you're looking at these teams and expecting a defensive battle, think twice and look at the recent results.
Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson were in vintage form against the Kings, with the Dallas duo combining for 50 points. The "others" were good, too — P.J. Washington, Brandon Williams and Dante Exum stepped up offensively, while bigs Dereck Lively and Daniel Gafford made impacts down low.
Memphis, meanwhile, lost to the seemingly inevitable Warriors despite a heroic 30-point effort from Desmond Bane and a gutty 22-point performance from Ja Morant. Zach Edey dominated the glass with 17 boards, and the rookie, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Santi Aldama all scored 14 or more points.
Long story short, both of these teams have been scoring well of late. Don't look at the Grizzlies' 132-97 win over Dallas on Sunday — Klay and AD didn't even play in that game, nor did Lively, and Williams played just seven minutes. This one could be completely different, especially if Klay stays hot and AD helps get Edey and JJJ in foul trouble.
We also can't forget about Morant's ankle, which he rolled after coming down on Buddy Hield's foot on a fallaway jumper. If Ja is even a little bothered by that ankle — or, worse, he has to leave the game at any point — Dallas could coast to the playoffs for its second postseason meeting with the Thunder in 13 months.
FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: Mavs 118, Grizzlies 111 — Dallas wins straight up, while the score goes well OVER the projected total of 221.5.
Grizzlies vs. Mavs top player prop bet
P.J. Washington, F, Mavs: OVER 6.5 rebounds (-110)
Just like he did in the Mavs' run to the Finals last year, Washington stepped up big time on Wednesday against Sacramento. He scored 17 points, ripped down nine boards and logged four assists over his team-high 37 minutes.
Washington clearly has the trust of Jason Kidd, and he will clearly be needed in the Mavs' tussle with the Grizz in Memphis. While AD and Lively/Gafford are battling with Edey and JJJ, look for Washington to sneak his way into an easy OVER on the glass.
