Bo Bichette has continued to be the subject of trade rumors over the past few weeks after the Toronto Blue Jays signed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a $500 million long-term contract.
There would be many teams in Major League Baseball interested in adding Bichette, who many consider to be one of the top-hitting infielders in the league.
At the top of that list should be the Atlanta Braves, who have been just about league average in every offensive category to start the season. The Braves currently rank 13th in batting average, 14th in OBP, and slightly above league average with the 11th-ranked SLG.
However, for a Braves team that might be a few players away from competing for a World Series, or even the National League East, taking a chance on somebody like Bichette when their offense has been as below average as it currently is makes sense.
The team has given Nick Allen an opportunity to start multiple games at shortstop.
While the former Oakland Athletics third-round pick in the 2017 MLB Draft has played much better than most anticipated, it's tough to determine whether this can continue.

Recently looking for trade candidates around the league, Greg Amsinger of MLB Network believes the Blue Jays star will get traded, and the Braves might make perfect sense.
“You ready for a shocker? Number nine is Bo Bichette. He didn't get a $500 million contract extension. His teammate, Vladdy, did. I know he doesn't have a home run yet. I get it. He's hitting .290. I think he's looking more comfortable at the plate. I don't think the Blue Jays are going to the World Series. Sorry, Dan, please, Zach. I think Bo makes the list at number nine,” he said.
For his standards, the Florida native hasn't swung the bat at the level he was hoping for entering the season.
Still, he owns a 100 OPS+ and has 39 hits in 133 at-bats. After leading the league in hits in 2021 and 2022, the tool is there for Bichette, with the Braves should love to have.
