Why are the NFL's Christmas games on Netflix?

Christmas Day will mark the first time in NFL history that a game will be available through Netflix. The reason for the change is likely a combination of two aspects: Money and a recent shift to streaming platforms.

The NFL is getting $150 million from Netflix for streaming the two holiday games, per the Associated Press. The league has also shown an increased willingness to involve streaming services in its game presentations over the last few years. "Thursday Night Football" has been available on Amazon Prime for some time, and now, Netflix is also getting involved in the action.

As many cut the cord on television and rely more on streaming for entertainment, the NFL is staying ahead of the curve by getting its games onto other platforms.
