In 2023, the Carolina Panthers sent a slew of draft picks and wide receiver D.J. Moore to the Chicago Bears for the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, and they used that pick on Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
As a rookie, Young wasn't great, starting 16 games and completing 59.8% of his passes for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, leading to a 73.7 passer rating.
Last year, Young had an up-and-down year, including a benching. In 14 games (12 starts), he completed 60.9% of his passes for 2,403 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions while adding another 249 yards and six scores on the ground. He ended the season with an 82.2 passer rating.
Young will likely get another year to prove himself as Carolina's starter, but Last Word on Sports' Anthony Palacios recently suggested that the Panthers could trade for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Prescott, 31, played collegiately at Mississippi State from 2011-15, earning All-SEC honors twice in his time with the Bulldogs.
The Cowboys took Prescott in the fourth round (No. 135 overall) of the 2016 NFL draft expecting him to compete for the backup job, but when Tony Romo suffered an injury in the preseason, Prescott stepped up as a starter, won Offensive Rookie of the Year and made the Pro Bowl in his first sason.

Prescott has made three Pro Bowls, earned All-Pro honors once and completed 66.8% of his passes for 31,437 yards, 213 touchdowns and 82 interceptions in his nine professional seasons. He also has a career 98.1 passer rating.
Last year, Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million extension with Dallas that included an $80 million signing bonus and both no-trade and no-franchise-tag clauses.
The Cowboys traded for New England Patriots' 2024 sixth-round pick Joe Milton on Thursday, and while he showed some flashes against the Buffalo Bills backups and third-stringers in the regular-season finale, he's probably not going to be taking over as the team's starter in 2025.
If they did want to make a deal, the Panthers should be calling because while Young may still end up being a solid NFL quarterback, he hasn't shown the ability at the professional level that Prescott has.
With Prescott, Carolina wouldn't be finishing in third place in the NFC South. Instead, they'd likely contend for a division title or at least a wild card spot.
