From the moment the 2024 season ended, Tyreek Hill has been looked at as having played his final down with the Miami Dolphins. Much of that stems from the comments he made following the team's season-ending loss to the New York Jets.
The Los Angeles Chargers have been connected to Hill in trade talks ever since. It makes sense for the team. The Chargers are in need of more wide receiver help and adding the fastest wide receiver in the league as an option for the cannon arm of Justin Herbert could prove to be a deadly combination.
But as is the case in any trade scenario, the compensation a team would have to give up is the key. And in the case of Hill, it won't be cheap.
On Tuesday, Dolphins general manager addressed the media. In addition to stating that it's time for the team to move on from cornerback Jalen Ramsey, he claimed that he is not interested in trading Hill. But he also mentioned what would get him to consider a deal.
Two first-round picks. That is a hefty price to pay for a 31-year old receiver who many see as a declining player at this point in his career. He could easily be a productive player for another season or two in a place like L.A., but is that worth two first-round picks?
That doesn't sound like a deal that Joe Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh would consider for one second?

The Chargers have been reluctant to place many resources into the wide receiver position with Hortiz and Harbaugh in place. The team struck gold by drafting Ladd McConkey in the second round last year but this offseason, bringing back former first-round pick Mike Williams has been their biggest move.
It remains to be seen if the Dolphins can get two first-round picks in exchange for Hill, but the Chargers are almost certainly out of that discussion at this point.
