The Arizona Diamondbacks have the fourth-best record in baseball entering Friday's action.
They're in fourth place in their division.
The National League West has been an absolute monster in the early stages of this MLB season. The Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants are putting on a clinic in stadiums across the country.
(We won't talk about the Colorado Rockies).
Here are the divisional standings before play begins on April 18:
- Padres 15-4
- Dodgers 14-6
- Giants 13-6
- Diamondbacks 12-7
- Rockies 3-15

Technically, the Diamondbacks are tied with two other teams (the Yankees and Rangers) for the fourth-best record in MLB.
It's almost impossible for such a record arrangement to happen.
Part of the reason is that MLB has taken to back-logging divisional games later in the season.
Arizona and San Francisco have yet to face an NL West foe. The Dodgers and Padres have each played the Rockies.
Eventually, these powerhouses will start beating up on each other.
But in the meantime, they're dominating their equivalent of the non-conference schedule.
Don't be surprised if an NL West team, like the Dodgers a year ago, is the last one standing at the end of this season. There are four who look capable.
